How does Invisalign work?
The Invisalign System is a series of clear orthodontic appliances custom-made for comfort. These aligners allow you to straighten your teeth without having to wear traditional braces with metal wires and brackets.  They are made of a medical grade polymer or plastic.  Each pair of aligners in the series is worn in two-week increments and are removed only to eat, drink, brush and floss.   Your teeth will move gradually each week until they have reached their prescribed final position.  Visit us every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.  Total treatment time averages 6-15 months, but will vary from case to case.  The average number of aligners is between 18 and 30, but also varies from case to case.

Is Invisalign right for all patients?
The Invisalign System is an alternative to braces for patients who have full adult dentition and complete jaw growth, and it is effective on a broad range of cases. Invisalign treats teeth that are too crowded, with spaces between them, with narrow arches, or that may have shifted after having worn braces.  Dr. Heiselman can determine if you are a good candidate during an initial exam.
